Post Study Work & EU Blue Card:
Foreign students who have successfully completed their studies in Germany can have their residence permit extended by up to 18 months for the purpose of looking for a job that corresponds to their qualification. If the student find a suitable job within this period, they can choose whether they want to apply for a German residence permit or an EU Blue Card. It grants the right to work and live in Germany. Due to the introduction of EU Blue Card in Germany, the permanent immigration of educated employees is made very easy. EU Blue Card holders are entitled to work in 26 Schengen countries and are eligible to apply for permanent resident status in Germany.

As early as two years after receiving your German or EU Blue Card residence permit, you can apply for a permanent residence permit - that is, a residence permit without a time limit.
